Lenten Journey

By Timothy Dickel on 2/25/2008

Dear Parents and Students,

On February 6 the Mater Dei community observed Ash Wednesday with mass.  This mass was a fitting way to begin our Lenten journey.  Fr. Ken Steckler discussed the importance of using this time to learn more about the “True Self.”  I hope this Lenten season is a time for you to reflect on your relationship with God and determine those things that interfere with your connection.

We recently learned that senior Karen Scheller was selected as a National Merit Finalist.  Students are selected across the country into this extremely prestigious program based on their PSAT scores.  Karen is the daughter of Randy (Class of ‘78) and Mary Scheller.  It is truly a pleasure to see our students succeed.

Celebrating Catholic Schools

Dear Parents and Students,

I am pleased to report a smooth transition to the second semester.  On the first day of school we celebrated Epiphany with an all-school prayer service.  The prayer service was led by Fr. Ken Steckler and music was provided by members of the choir.

We celebrated Catholic Schools Week from January 28-February 1.  During this week, I hope you were able spend a few moments in thanksgiving for all that Catholic schools have done to enrich your lives.  I have been extremely blessed by the men and women that have served the Catholic schools I have attended and where I have worked.  Mater Dei strives to provide the highest quality education available in the Catholic tradition that develops students for Christian service.

We were pleased to welcome ...

Student Attendance

By Darin Knight on 12/13/2005

One of the most important duties performed in the main office at Mater Dei is daily attendance and record keeping. Throughout the school year there are many student illnesses, doctor appointments, college visits, and a variety of other reasons that students are absent from class. Keeping an accurate daily accounting of students can therefore become hectic, time consuming, and difficult.

Cell Phone Message

By Darin Knight on 10/5/2005

As we are all aware, cell phones have become an integral part of our society today. The faculty and administration at Mater Dei fully understand that cell phones are a valuable and necessary means of communication between you and your children - especially with the many activities students are involved in, combined with your busy work schedules.
