Student Attendance

One of the most important duties performed in the main office at Mater Dei is daily attendance and record keeping.  Throughout the school year there are many student illnesses, doctor appointments, college visits, and a variety of other reasons that students are absent from class.   Keeping an accurate daily accounting of students can therefore become hectic, time consuming, and difficult.

In order to help ensure that attendance records are complete and accurate, and that all students are safe and accounted for, the attendance office would like to remind all students and parents of a few simple policies.

  • Students need to turn in a parent note to Mrs. Scott by the morning of their scheduled appointment.  Mrs. Scott will then give them an early dismissal slip.
  • Students should return to school with a note from the doctor’s office.
  • Parents should call school in the morning when students are out sick.
  • A 4th unexcused absence from any one class during a quarter will result in a failing quarter grade in that class.  Absences can be excused by a note from the doctor.
  • Parents should provide a note one week in advance for student college visits, family trips, or other planned absences from school.

Please feel free to contact the Attendance Office with further questions, and as always, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
