Mater Dei Tradition

Mater Dei High School was constructed in 1949 on the west side of Evansville, Indiana as a Catholic, coed, high school to serve the needs of a growing community. Mater Dei is one of two Catholic high schools that serve the students of Vanderburgh, Posey, and Warrick counties.

In 1998, a major addition to the school was added. In the new addition, 5 science rooms, 2 computer labs, a chapel, an auditorium, and new administrative offices were added along with new windows throughout the building and air conditioning. This multimillion dollar undertaking was made possible by the generosity of the people of the diocese of Evansville.

Mater Dei is a college prep school with approximately 95% of our students going on to college. We have a wide array of extracurricular programs including but not limited to: athletics, theater, music, speech, dance cats, and numerous other clubs and organizations.

Mater Dei offers a well-rounded college prep curriculum emphasizing the natural sciences, career skills, technology, and competence in math and English.

The students and staff have a great deal of pride in their school which is evidenced by the strong family atmosphere within the school. Students indicate that the faculty is very helpful, patient, and caring, and the faculty and staff are very complimentary of the student body and enjoy working with the students.

The parents are very supportive of the school leadership. They strive to work cooperatively with the school leadership to maintain and continually improve the existing programs.
