Lent
3/1/2010
We began the season of Lent on Wednesday, February 17, with Mass and the distribution of ashes. All of what we do in this season is meant to help us in our own relationship with Christ. To be honest, if we miss this point, then we also miss the beauty of having the opportunity to study in the environment of a Catholic school. Without a relationship, with Christ none of what we do in our school makes much sense.
With this focus on relationship, we also had a penance service for our students on Wednesday, February 24. I would encourage you as parents to take advantage of this opportunity yourselves in your parishes, both for your own spiritual growth and also to be an example to your children. I hope that this season gives every family the chance to heal wounds that need to be mended. Life is too precious to be burdened by unnecessary baggage – there are things that we all need to let go of in order to experience the freedom that God desires for each of us. If I can help in making this a reality, please let me know.
I wish you all a very happy Lent.
