The Mater Dei football coach's show featuring Mike Goebel and a member of the Wildcats football team will make its season debut this Thursday†night at†6:30 p.m.†on WEOA 98.5FM/1400 AM and online at WEOA985FM.COM. This weekly show will air every†Thursday through†October 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Dedication of Boots Baumann Football Field

Mater Dei High School is dedicating and blessing Boots Baumann Field, its new artificial turf field on Saturday, August 8, at 8:30 a.m.

The program will include remarks by Mater Dei President Timothy Dickel and Football Coach Mike Goebel. Football Chaplain Fr. Phil Kreilein will lead the blessing. After the program, the Red and Gold scrimmage (Mater Dei's intervarsity scrimmage) will take place at 8:45 a.m.

The field has been named in honor of the families of Ira and Terry Boots, Dan and Andrea Baumann, and Brandon and Lindsey Boots. Work on the field began in May and was first used in the middle of July. Perimeter work around the field continues due to the extremely wet spring and summer. The field was designed by Jim Farny at the Lochmueller Group, and Blankenberger Bros. is the general contractor. A-Turf was the artificial turf supplier.

Boots Baumann Field will be utilized for football practices and junior varsity, freshman, and cub football games. In addition, the field will be used by soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, band, and physical education classes.

Boots Baumann Field has been funded by the Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow Capital Campaign. This campaign has raised over $5 million and is funding areas related to academics, spirituality, facilities, extracurricular activities/athletics, and tuition assistance. Several major projects are complete, including the expanded and renovated media center, prayer garden, main gym restrooms, energy efficiency enhancements, and resource facility. In addition, several projects are in progress or planned for the future, including the entrance enhancement, new and improved athletic fields, tennis courts, and an auxiliary gym renovation.†

ďThere are many advantages of this new field, including use in all weather, safety, and reduced maintenance costs. Once we realized the advantages and return on investment for the field, we knew this was the right direction for the school. The generosity of our community made this project possible for our students," said Dr. Timothy Dickel, President.
