Pricing and Food Options are strictly based on Government Guidelines

$2.25 = Breakfast

• 1 meat + 4 sides
• Serving of bread item and Milk

$3.65 = Salad Bar

• 1 large bowl of salad and toppings/dressing

Also available ala carte for an extra charge: healthy snacks, yogurt parfaits, bottled water, Gatorade Zero, frozen yogurt.

*Money is deposited into the student account either online (through LINQ Connect) or cash/check deposits may be made before school in the cafeteria or dropped off in the main office. No money will be exchanged in the cafeteria line. Parents will be notified by email when lunch accounts fall to a negative balance. Students with a substantially negative balance will be restricted to purchase a Grade A lunch ONLY, no extras including bottled water. A hot breakfast is served every morning from 6:30 - 7:15 am. The cost is $2.65* each. The yogurt parfait bar is also available at the same price.

There are three lunch times. Lunch schedules will vary depending on their 3rd and 7th block class. Students may eat as early at 10:40 (Lunch A) or as late as 11:50 (Lunch C).

On RED days, students will attend blocks 1, 2, 3, & 4

On GOLD days, students will attend blocks 5, 6, 7, & 8

Parents should call the Main Office at 812-426-2258 by 8:00 am to report a student’s absence along with the reason. It is acceptable to leave a voicemail prior to school hours with this information.

Your student will be asked to come to the main office, and a determination will be made by the nurse on staff. If there is a need, a parent will be contacted. If a parent cannot be reached within a reasonable time, the next person on the emergency medical card will be contacted. Students should not call or text parents—they must report to the main office, and the nurse or office staff will contact a parent.

No. In order to participate or practice in an extracurricular or athletic practice or event, a student MUST BE in school for the ENTIRE DAY. Missing more than 30 minutes of a class counts as an absence (unless it is for a medical appointment or another excused absence); therefore, the student would not be eligible to practice or participate in after-school activities.

No. The school calendar is included in your packet. Please plan accordingly. Students should not miss school at the end of a grading period (quarter) or the end of the semester (final exam week) for vacation, college visits, or doctor appointments. All final exams missed due to EXCUSED absences will be scheduled through the student’s counselor—not individual teachers.

Email or send a note with your student to the main office PRIOR to the appointment (preferably the day before). The note should include both the student’s first and last name, the date of the appointment, and the time the student needs to leave. The student will be issued a pass to leave the classroom at that time.

To pick up your student for the appointment, come to Door #2, ring the doorbell and the staff will send your student out to you. Upon returning from the appointment, the student must bring documentation from the attending health professional in order for the appointment to be counted as an excused absence.

A medication form must be filled out by the parent and kept on file in the office. All medicine must be brought to the office in its original container and administered in the main office. Students are not allowed to keep any medicine with them and take it on their own.

Only two doors will be open in the mornings—Door #12 on the north side and Door #3 on the south side of the building. These doors open no earlier than 6:30 am.

We are dependent on EVSC for bus service. If you live in the Central or Reitz districts, then EVSC may provide transportation. You must fill out the Transportation Request form. The deadline for the following school year is March 20th. Send the completed form to Mrs. Jane Scheu—jscheu@evdio.org or drop off or mail form to Mater Dei, 1300 Harmony Way, Evansville, 47720. We will forward the information to EVSC for their consideration and approval. If approved, you will receive notification from EVSC regarding the bus route. Mater Dei High School has no voice in EVSC’s approval or notification.

In order to establish superior levels of work within grade ranges, the weighted grading scale below is used.

The percentage system is the basis for all grades; letter grades are used for reporting purposes.

No, there is not a formal list. The first day of school, your student should arrive on time, in dress code, with a backpack and their Chromebook. They should also bring at least one notebook, pencils/pens, and a calculator. We recommend a TI-84 or TI-84 Plus CE (not Casio) for all of our math classes. Teachers will let students know the first day of school if there is anything else needed for their class.

Mater Dei will provide your student with a Chromebook to use during the school year.

Requirements depend on the student’s graduating class.

• Classes of 2027 and 2028: Students pursuing the Academic Honors Diploma must earn two fine arts credits to meet graduation requirements.

• Class of 2029 and beyond: Fine arts credits are no longer required for the Academic Honors Diploma.

While fine arts may not be required for all graduating classes, we strongly encourage students to explore fine arts courses when possible. These classes help students develop creativity, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills and allow them to discover new interests that may enhance their overall high school experience.
